Liven up your outdoor space + tips!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Home Depot.

So, how is your outdoor patio space coming along? Are you moving along gracefully or are you stuck in a rut? Now, don’t think that just because you have a cement or brick slab in your backyard that there’s no hope. There is so much you can do to make this a fun and/or relaxing space for you and yours. Here are some tips for selecting the right furniture for you.

  • Make a list-go and sit out on your patio and look around. What would you like? What do you need? How will you use your space? Do you need more seating?
  • Space-how much room do you have? Take measurements and TAKE THEM WITH YOU TO THE STORE (or shopping online).  Bring a measuring tape to help you at the store too. If you forget, I bet you can find someone that would be more than happy to help you.
  • Try it out-when you are shopping, make sure you try the furniture out. Sit down and think about how you feel. Will this be comfortable for you and for others?
  • Be practical-I’ve said it before, personally I wouldn’t go out and buy a shiny, white patio set because I have a 3 year old who is obsessed with dirt. That wouldn’t be smart or practical. Think about how you can get the best and most use out of your purchase.

Some other ways to liven up your outdoor space:

Fire pits are warm and entertaining. I think this is a great way to “brighten” up your space!

I am in love with these. Pergola’s really dress up your space. You can add climbing vines or plants to add protective shade.

This is a great set to add to your space if you are expecting more company than your larger set can hold or if you are having a gathering. It’s simply yet trendy.

Or maybe you’re all set, but you’re missing a little something. Is this it?

I hope you’re motivated now to go out and find some patio furniture and accessories that are just right for you. I know I am. I have all kinds of ideas floating around in my head. Your outdoor space is a valuable part of your home, so go out and enjoy it!

Furnishing your patio for relaxation!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Home Depot.

Do you ever sit outside on your patio and play the “I wish” game in your head? For example. “I wish our patio was bigger. I wish it was more functional. I wish it was more private.” Are we ever really happy? :) I actually like the size of my patio. It’s right outside my back door and it’s very private which is a bonus. Not that there are any snoopy people out there, but sometimes I quick run out there in my jammies to get something or throw a dirty diaper out…you get it. Our patio is pretty functional too. Not too much to complain about. My dad gave me the idea the other day to take off the lattice on the north side of it so we can see into the yard better. I keep forgetting to tell my husband that we should do that… It’s actually a really good idea-give the illusion of space! Or if you want to add a splash of color you could add some containers overflowing with annuals or decorate crossbeams and posts with hanging baskets.

Do you eat on your patio? We rarely do. So, sometimes I think it’s silly to always go for the outdoor dining sets. If you like to eat outside, by all means go for it, but I got to thinking that maybe it would be nice to swing a different way and try different seating sets. What do you think?

Wouldn’t you just love having your friends or family over for coffee on a quiet, warm summer morning sitting comfortably on this pretty set?

Or this cozy little set? Perfect for just the two of you.

This set is nicer than my furniture in my first apartment! Right mom? You can curl up and read a good book, have people over, sleep, or whatever your little heart desires!

Or what about a simple, stylish comfy couch? You can’t go wrong!

Our patio’s are like big bonus rooms when it’s nice out, so we should make them fun and functional! Have you been to The Home Depot  website to check out their selection? If you are going into this blindly they will help you come up with some really neat ideas to celebrate your outdoor space. Have no worries, you will be inspired once you take a trip to your local store or visit them online.

Looking for the right patio furniture pieces.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Home Depot. I could look at different patio sets all day. When I was little, I used to love going to the stores and sitting on every piece I could. Probably over exaggerating to my parents about how comfortable everything was. I thought [...]

My mom.

My mom is my best friend. We get along very well. Sometimes we have little disagreements. But, we get back to reality pretty quickly and make up. I think they happen sometimes because we are very much alike yet very different at the same time. Does that make sense? It does to me. And I [...]

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Home Depot.  It is finally that time of year again (hopefully) where we can get outside, dust, spray, whatever you have to do to get that patio of yours cleaned off. Ours gets so disgusting over the winter. It seems like over the [...]

Huge Natural Product Review!

vitacost

I was super pumped the other day when I received a nice big box from one of my favorite online stores, Vitacost. The best part? It was a box of natural products sent to me for a review. Seriously. I sighed as I opened up the box. Why me? Why do I have to get [...]

30 days of Core Foods

20130410-141002.jpg

Last month I took the Core Challenge. See post here . The purpose of this challenge is to encourage people to eat whole raw fruits and veggies along with their Core meal. I didn’t see this as a huge challenge, but an opportunity to improve my eating. My goal was to stop eating processed foods, [...]

Let’s get rid of these.

20130408-200410.jpg

My to-do lists (I have several floating around) keep getting bigger and bigger. I am trying to put together my program since I passed my Lifestyle and Weight Management certification, spring cleaning, yard stuff, running, crochet, work, family, church stuff, and maybe some sleep. Little things that keep staring at me are pictures that I’ve [...]

My yard is ready for SPRING!

20130403-080948.jpg

My backyard is a big, muddy blank canvas. I like it. I think it is so exciting to start from scratch. I have a lot of projects floating around in my head from garden beds to fun play areas for my son. I’m not the most creative person in the world so for me it [...]
